A Cam Angle Sensor (also known as a Camshaft Position Sensor) is a key component in modern internal combustion engines. It monitors the position and speed of the camshaft, which controls the opening and closing of engine valves. This information is sent to the vehicle’s Engine Control Unit (ECU), which then adjusts fuel injection and ignition timing to ensure optimal engine performance, efficiency, and emissions control.
Symptoms of a Faulty Cam Angle Sensor:
- Check Engine Light: One of the most common signs is the illumination of the check engine light.
- Engine Misfires: The engine may misfire or run rough due to incorrect fuel and spark timing.
- Stalling or Hesitation: The engine might hesitate or stall during operation because of improper valve timing.
- Poor Acceleration: A malfunctioning sensor can lead to sluggish acceleration.
- Difficulty Starting: The engine may struggle to start, or may not start at all.
